Ms. Fernsler graduated from Wilson College with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 1988 after earning a Bachelor of Science in liberal arts from Kutztown University. In addition, Ms. Fernsler has been a science fiction fan and performing flutist for more than 40 years, and she retains a passion for the Star Trek series.
