Valerie Victoria Ver Kuilen Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who
Valerie Ver Kuilen Has Been Selected as a VIP Member for 2011-2012
LA PUENTE, CA, November 21, 2011 /Finance PR News/ -- Valerie Victoria Ver Kuilen, Retired Management Analyst for the City of Covina, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in community development and analysis. In addition to being named a VIP Member, Ms. Ver Kuilen has been selected for inclusion in Cambridge Publishing's Calendar Series and Pro-Files Magazine.
With 25 years of experience in her field and seven years of experience as a management analyst, Ms. Ver Kuilen has expertise in technology planning, project management, community development, housing rehabilitation, and housing and urban development. Before she retired, she oversaw the management of government funds, housing rehabilitation for physically challenged and elderly people, assistance for first-time home buyers, and the preparation of financial and government reports. She also answered citizens' questions, prepared all financial reports related to housing rehabilitation, and managed all community development block grant programs and capital improvement projects. Prior to joining the City of Covina, Ms. Ver Kuilen was an airman first class in the U.S. Air Force. She spent two years with the military, performing air traffic control procedures, instructing the ground school and working as an air operations specialist.
Attributing her success to her hard work, listening skills and ability to see the whole picture when assisting property owners, Ms. Ver Kuilen became involved in her profession after working as a code enforcement officer and deciding to work with people and assist them in every way possible. The most gratifying aspect of her career was being able to improve housing conditions for residents so that they could stay in their homes. Ms. Ver Kuilen attributes her desire to help others to the values instilled in her by her parents, Marion and Theodore Ver Kuilen.
Ms. Ver Kuilen received a Bachelor of Science in agricultural sciences from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, in 1979. Before that, she earned an Associate of Science in animal science at Mt. San Antonio College. She is a Certified Paralegal, having earned that title at Watterson Business College, and also holds certification in land use planning and development analysis, from the University of California, Riverside. She won the John Lowel Award for Outstanding Code Enforcement from the state of California in 1995, and has been recognized by Who's Who of American Women. A member of the Alumni Association at California Polytechnic State University, she won the Editor's Choice Award for Excellence in Photography from The International Library of Photography in 2005. In the future, Ms. Ver Kuilen hopes to continue working, and possibly start her own photography business. She is looking forward to marrying her high school sweetheart, Mr. Ray Walker, on October 3, 2011.
